Disease outbreaks or pandemics
Tornadoes and wildfires
Floods
Acts of terrorism
Other events that can affect the health and safety of our community

The North Central District Health Department (NCDHD) helps our communities get ready, respond, and recover when an emergency happens.

How We Get Ready

We work with local leaders, emergency teams, hospitals, nursing homes, and other groups to help keep our communities safe.

We:

Make plans for different types of emergencies
Practice our plans with drills and exercises
Help communities prepare for health emergencies
Help provide health services during a disaster
Help people find shelter and other support after a disaster

How We Help With Recovery

Recovery can continue long after an emergency is over. NCDHD works with community partners to help people and communities return to safety, stability, and recovery.

We may:

Help connect people with resources and support
Support public health needs after a disaster
Help communities identify and respond to ongoing health concerns
Share information about available assistance and services
Work with local partners to help communities recover and prepare for future emergencies

Working Together

NCDHD also works with the Rural Region One Medical Response System (RROMRS). RROMRS helps North Central and Northeast Nebraska respond when an emergency affects many people or causes important services to stop.

Being ready is a team effort. We work together to help keep our communities safe.
