Worksite wellness is an organized program that businesses put in place for their employees to improve the physical, mental, emotional, and occupational well-being of their employees. A major goal of a worksite wellness program is to make the work environment more supportive of healthy behaviors like healthy eating, being physically active, managing stress, and quitting tobacco. Wellness programs are not one size fits all…they can and should be customized to meet the needs of the company! Many businesses have concerns about the expense of worksite wellness programs, however even a modest budget can make a big impact!
Wellness screenings include:
total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, glucose, blood pressure, pulse, height, weight, body mass index (BMI), body fat %, health risk assessment
Why worksite wellness?
It’s no surprise that worksite wellness programs have become increasingly popular. Since employees spend about 36% of their waking hours at work, the work place has incredible influence on the lives of employees and their families. It makes sense to encourage healthy behaviors for a healthier, more productive workforce.
