NCDHD discuss the new isolation guidelines for individuals that test positive for COVID-19. People with COVID-19 should isolate for at least 5 days after symptoms begin or after a positive test if asymptomatic. If they are asymptomatic or their symptoms are resolving (without fever for 24 hours), they must follow that by 5 days of wearing a mask when around others to minimize the risk of infecting people they encounter.
Remember, this guidance ONLY applies to the general population. Healthcare workers, individuals who are severely ill with COVID-19, and immunocompromised individuals have different guideline recommendations. If questioning when you should end your isolation period, call your local provider or NCDHD at 402-336-2406.
